THE RISE OF AFRIKA
ROAR WOMAN. ROAR LIKE A LIONESS!!!
Tami Mase is a Digital Transformation Strategist, a Brand Developer and a Futuristic Visionary, an Inclusionist & Solutionist, an Author and Speaker. She is the Founder & CEO of Mandrolli Auto, the First Global Electric Vehicle (EV) Automaker to be owned by women, with its First Prototype in the World to be engraved with Nelson Mandela's signature. She leads the Tami Mase Institute (TMI), a Research & Development Institute that drives Business Inclusion. TMI has taken the lead in the Research & Development of Green Hybrid Energy for Automobiles & Households, it continues conducting research in the Mushroom Leather for Car interior, Mushroom meat and Mushroom packaging. Tami is also extremely instrumental in the Empowerment of Women through Women In Power Invest, a company she founded in 2018 to drive Afrika's Economic Restoration Agenda (E.R.A.) through Fintech Innovations. She has recently embarked on hosting Podcasts (PowerMe Sessions. The Buzz Hour & The Roundtable Dialogues) as platforms to have Dialogues with Women who strive to adopt the Lioness Mentality in giving birth to a Pride that will build generational legacy for Afrika.
She was 20 years when she embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship in 1994 as a second year University student. She started making money part time with her fashion design hobby which she self taught using a toy sewing machine, a size of a 2L carton, that her mama bought her. That toy machine designed clothing for her Varsity mates and gave birth to a fashion brand called Hayworths Clothing. Hayworths grew from 1995 into a business that employed more than 30 people and rented a whole floor with two wings of the Eastern Cape Development Agency (ECDC) building in Mthatha in 1999. This is where the passion of Women Empowerment started as Hayworths's mission was to empower women while working as a collective.
Hayworths Clothing won her fashion awards in 1995 from the Battle of Designers Fashion Show founded by Sonwabile Ndamase, the originator/inventor of the Nelson Mandela 'Madiba' shirt. Her clothing range also
attracted a lot of attention from other Fashion Shows and Beauty Pageants like Miss Mthatha in 1995, organised by Vuks & Zintle Mantanga.
In 1999, she had to choose between staying in her 2 Year Teaching job or quit teaching and be a full time Entrepreneur. Her passion for empowerment & finding solutions for human challenges decided her fate. She quit her University Tutoring position and dropped out her English Honours Degree studies, pursued her entrepreneurship. This decision coincided with her mental breakdown which resulted in hospitalisation in Johannesburg Helen Joseph Psychiatric Ward in 1999 and diagnosis of Severe Depressive Disorder caused by a 2 year marital abuse.
After recovering from the depression attack, she fiercely adopted the Lioness survival mentality, with one mission in mind, to discover & empower other Lionesses undergoing the same challenges and as a collective of Womenity Tribe, give birth to a Powerful Pride.
The rest of other ventures Tami got involved in thereafter in the Retail, Media, Technology, Finance, Automobile sectors, were all self taught out of curiosity, determination and passion, led by a visionary mind.
Tami is an aggressive serial entrepreneur who failed in business more than 10 times but always find a reason to rise again and again. She has always broken boundaries and hardly played by the rules. Tami is not only creative in bringing solutions for humanity, but her solutions have a strategic way to move people, change mindsets and transform lives. She finds Technology Transformation the ONLY way to elbow through right to the front row of the economic queue.
Tami Mase strongly believes in the Power of the Collective and in that Inclusion can never be achieved in the absence of this advantage. She has thus established Tami Mase Institute (for Business Inclusion) which intends to lead the Research & Development in the science of Inclusive Growth of every pocket of Society, to enable the enhancement of smart living, self-sustainable & very strong economic ecosystem. This becomes the firm foundation of Economic Transformation of any Nation.
Tami has a gift to see from the future. She breaks the norms in pioneering ways into how people can create wealth, into how communities can balance wealth, into how communities can reinvent and circulate their own wealth and into paving a path towards nations that are reinventing their own power for a better tomorrow. This endeavour hits a Cul-de-Sac as it requires a lot of work in Changing Mindsets, helping people to Unlearn & Relearn new ways of thinking.
TRACES OF BLACK & BLUE
Traces of Black & Blue is a poignant memoir of Tami's past that seeks to expose & explore the hidden truths of our past buried deep in the closets as taboos & family secrets which continue eroding the very essence of family health & happiness.
Traces stole the hearts of the Nelson Mandela Museum CEO who requested that a partnership be formed for Community Outreach projects that assist our young girls to deal with trauma & receive counselling. It also touched the heart of Dr Nelly Sharpley, head of Social Sciences Department at Walter Sisulu University (WSU), who requested that a partnership be formed to develop a program for Post Graduates of WSU in this particular field of Social Sciences.
The Voices of Women (VOW) Media was also formed to create space for young girls and women to share their stories and heal.
